Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) offer IABC/Atlanta members a chance to dig deep into specific subjects. At SIG meetings, attendees participate in a guided discussion and share best practices. IABC/Atlanta has three special interest groups.

Technology Communications SIG

Coordinator: Margie Driscoll [ e-mail ]

About this SIG:
The IABC Technology Special Interest Group is focused on specific, relevant issues in communications technology. All IABC Technology SIG events are designed to allow the participants to network while learning about current trends in communications technology. All involved have a guided discussion led by an experienced communication professional, followed by an informative question and answer period.

Check back here for info about the third 2008 Tech SIG meeting.

Employee Communications SIG

Senior Communicators SIG

Coordinator: Ernie Martin [ e-mail ]

About this SIG:
Experienced communication professionals in the Senior Communicators SIG meet quarterly to network and discuss a specific communication or management topic that would primarily impact more senior-level professionals.

Who is a senior communicator? In general, a senior communicator is considered someone who has been in the communications/PR profession for 10 years or more and/or someone who is in mid-level management or above. In addition, a senior communicator might support and provide consultation to a senior level executive (director, vice president or above) in terms of managing the communications for that executive or that executive's department. Even if you don't consider yourself a senior-level communicator, you can still come to the SIG meetings whenever the topic sounds appealing to you.
