Writer/Editor: CHOA
A Writer/Editor ensures effective communication of the System mission and vision to internal and external constituencies through all System-wide written communications, including brochures, flyers, pamphlets, publications, displays, posters, videos, web content and other marketing collateral and communication materials intended for public distribution. They provide editorial support to internal communications including publications, speeches, memos and other communication materials.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, research, write, edit and coordinate approval/proofing of copy for various materials such as brochures, fliers, pamphlets, posters, booklets, directories, newsletters, speeches, talking points, letters, memos, Web content and other institutional communications projects
- Ensure that language and messages are appropriate to audience, reflective of institutional mission, vision and image campaign, and adhere to department style guidelines
- Ensure that production schedule deadlines are met and project requestor, appropriate staff and Director of External Communications are kept abreast of any delays to the original project timeline and corrective actions are taken to ensure timely delivery
- Work with others in the department and project requestors to understand needs of target audience and develop appropriate messages
- Enhance results through proper integration and alignment with other marketing and System resource teams
- Act as a clearinghouse for current System facts for public dissemination, including the generation of consistent, targeted messages
- Provide content suggestions for, edit and proof all publications, periodicals and other internal and external publications and projects as needed
- Provide meaningful input and creative advice on communications and marketing projects and participate in creative meetings
- Maintain and update the Children's Editorial Style Guide as necessary
- Maintain awareness of and proficiency in current trends and practices in writing for marketing communications. Maintain skill levels in technology tools required to perform job requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Public Relations or related field
- Minimum four years experience in writing, publications, marketing or public relations
- Must have experience working with graphics, design and photography on collateral production; a working knowledge of printing, promotions, and target marketing
- Prefer familiarity with hospital and healthcare-related audiences and topics
- Proven writing and editing skills
- Must have thorough knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation and demonstrated accuracy
- Must have analytical skills and creative experience necessary to address targeted messages to a variety of audiences
- Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with others and to speak in public, listen effectively during interviews to gather information from sources at all levels in the System and work with varying levels of staff
- Able to work well under pressure and to manage multiple projects at once
- Must be flexible and adaptable to unexpected changes
- Must have proven ability to develop and meet/exceed editorial schedules/deadlines
- Must have a valid Georgia driver's license and personal transportation (automobile) in good working condition
